Montagne Alternative is a place of hospitality. We are delighted to welcome our guests in the heart of Commeire, a mountain hamlet listed in the Federal Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites of National Importance (ISOS). We combine the charm of old barns with the comfort of today, the authenticity of the place with the demands of the professional world. We offer accommodation and seminar rooms designed for work as well as rest, a restaurant and a carnotzet where local flavours are shared. Here, encounters, work and renewal blend naturally.

Montagne Alternative is a place to recharge. Above Orsières, far from noise and traffic, the hamlet offers a rare calm, conducive to focus and reflection. We welcome teams on seminars, people in training, groups on retreat and mountain lovers looking for sporting activities. In Commeire, everyone finds the time to step back, think differently and slow down.

Montagne Alternative is a place of beauty. We showcase the hamlet’s traditional architecture through understated design, natural materials and décor partly made from recycled materials. Simplicity and comfort, rigorous work and the pleasure of being together are not incompatible.
Montagne Alternative is a place rooted in its region. We celebrate local producers: honey from Liddes and Reppaz, raclette from the Orsières dairy, Valais wines, herbs from our aromatic garden. We work with nearby partners and bring local craftsmanship to life in our shop. Every meal tells a little of the valley’s story.

We care deeply about preserving the peace of the village and maintaining a relationship of trust with our neighbours. The hamlet is entirely car-free, and we invite our guests to share this consideration for everyone’s tranquillity.

We respect the environment that welcomes us: we sort our waste, avoid wasting food, limit chemicals, favour renewable energy and encourage sustainable mobility, with our shuttle from Orsières and car-sharing. We move forward step by step, aware of what remains to be done.

The Project’s Beginnings

Driven as much by conviction as by love at first sight, Benoit carefully restored the abandoned barns between 2006 and 2014, carrying out renovations that respected their architectural heritage and reusing the original materials.

Here, every detail reflects a philosophy: that of rediscovered authenticity. Beneath their intact silhouettes as century-old barns, the buildings conceal a true feat of engineering: dismantled and then rebuilt stone by stone to optimize insulation techniques, they blend modern comfort with respect for heritage. The windows blend discreetly into the wood without ever detracting from the façade; the balconies open generously onto the panorama; and every architectural line seems as though it has always been there.

Inside, larch wood envelops the rooms in natural warmth, without artifice or excess. Here, there are no screens to distract the eye, no curtains to block the view: only the essential matters—this alpine landscape that stands out as the true decoration. A stay designed to help you reconnect with what truly matters.
