Commeire, situated in the hills above the Val d’Entremont in Valais, was included in the Federal Inventory of Built Sites of National Importance to be Protected in Switzerland in 1995.
A vibrant hamlet, rooted in Valais tradition, where nature and the silence of the alpine pastures
have always offered what cities cannot.
The inhabitants of Commeire lived in near-self-sufficiency for more than six centuries, adapting to the harsh alpine climate by using local natural resources in a circular and regenerative manner.
In the 1960s, they began reaching out to the valley by selling the famous and particularly flavorful “Commeire strawberry,” grown on the sun-drenched mountainsides.
